Riverton Rose Trail is located in Colbert County Alabama on the shores of Pickwick lake.
The Riverton Rose Trail Volunteer Fire Department was established in 2005?Our founding Fire Marshall was Ken Blackstock. Ken retired from the Muscle Shoals fire department and relocated to Riverton for his retirement. However, Ken was never one to sit still and he noticed his community was in need of a fire department. Ken and several other local leaders came together and created one of the counties finest fire departments. We are much more than a fire department. We are a cornerstone of the community.
Our current Fire Marshall is Chuck Lansdell. Chuck is a man of many talents. Chuck is not only the Fire Marshall but he is also the preacher at the local church (www.therivertonchurch.com). Chuck once served as the mayor of Cherokee and is a retired EMT.
Our fire department serves close to 500 residents with fire and EMT needs. We have special equipment for fire and water rescue. We are made up of ~25 volunteers. Most of our residents are only part timers because they are only present during the summer months or during hunting and fishing season.
Riverton is considered one of the ghost towns of Alabama because the original city is now underwater after the river was flooded by TVA. You can find outmore about Riverton and Rosetrail at the following website. www.rosetrail.org
